≡ Moon In New York For UN General Assembly, Summit With Trump
President Moon Jae-in is in New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly.
He plans to hold a summit with U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday ahead of an expected resumption of nuclear talks between Washington and Pyongyang.
Presidential secretary Choi Jong-kun said Moon will use his talks with Trump and his attendance at the U.N. session to help revitalize the peace and denuclearization process with North Korea and broaden international support for it.
During his five-day visit, he will deliver a keynote speech at the U.N. on Tuesday with a focus on Seoul's peace initiative.
The president will also sit down with U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and take part in the U.N. Climate Action Summit.
He is also scheduled to meet International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach as South Korea is bidding to co-host the 2032 Summer Olympics with North Korea.■

≡ Creating Denuclearization Road Map Key In N. Korea-US Talks: Kang
Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha says North Korea and the United States have the most important task of creating a denuclearization road map once they resume working-level talks.
Kang arrived in New York on Sunday, accompanying President Moon Jae-in ahead of his summit talks with U.S. President Donald Trump.
The minister told reporters during a press briefing that the Trump administration is open to discussions on issues such as security assurance and sanctions relief.
Meanwhile, Moon plans to attend the 74th U.N. General Assembly, becoming the first South Korean leader to join the event for three consecutive years.
Kang said the president's participation reflects the government's determination to take responsibility and play a role to match its stature and contribution on the international stage.■

≡ Trump Does Not Intend To Meet With Iran Amid Oil Attack Dispute
U.S. President Donald Trump says he does not intend to meet with Iranian leaders at the upcoming United Nations General Assembly.
The U.S. announced new sanctions against Tehran as it continues to deny involvement in an attack on Saudi oil facilities.
Speaking to reporters at the White House Sunday, Trump said, however, that nothing is off the table completely and that he is a very flexible person.
The United Nations' annual gathering of world leaders is kicking off Monday in the wake of last week's attack on Saudi's key oil facilities that sent global oil prices soaring.
Yemen-based Houthi rebels have claimed the attacks while the Trump administration has insisted Iran is to blame.■

≡ Suspected Case Of African Swine Fever Reported In Gimpo
The agriculture ministry says another suspected case of African swine fever has been reported at a farm in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province.
Authorities are looking into the case.
This comes nearly a week after South Korea's first-ever case of ASF was confirmed in Paju some 20 kilometers away.
That was followed by a second confirmed case in neighboring Yeoncheon County.
So far, all confirmed or suspected cases have been centered in northern Gyeonggi Province, adjacent with the inter-Korean border.■
